[It's conveniently not a very strong lock, because this diary was designed with someone very young in mind... so after a valiant struggle, the lock breaks and Julius is free to read the diary.
Whoever owned this had very neat handwriting for who young the exterior makes them seem - at least on the one entry that's actually legible. The earlier entries have all been blacked out, long stripes of black ink obscuring everything written on the pages. The final entry reads as follows:]
Is it possible to go back to what once was after everything has been changed? Can you ever be who you were meant to be again? Or are you doomed to be something unintended?
I don't know what I can do now when I don't know what's been done. All I know is that I'm afraid of what will happen next and of what I could be capable of, and I'm not sure what's the best choice to make.
Or if there's even anything like a best choice anymore.
[ He looks down at the diary, the light catching so the lenses obscure his eyes as he reads the last entry a few times over. ]
Sometimes there wasn't ever one to begin with.
[ He mumbles to himself, then tries holding up some of the blacked out portions of a random page up to a light, to see if he can make sense of any of what might be obscured. ]
[It both does and doesn't work - most of the words are still too hard to read, so he can't get any full sentences, but he can make out a word or two. If he goes through the book, there's a few words that might stick out. "Stars", "music", "changes", and "procedure" are words that make multiple appearances, beyond just the typical words you might expect in a personal diary, like "I" or "my".
Actually. Now that the window is Open™ and Flat's back out of the way, he's gonna. Take his glasses off and take a better look outside, mainly towards the house itself, just to see what their escape options look like. Like what floor are they on, if he can see lights on in any of the other rooms, that kind of thing. ]
[what do u mean he has rideaux back home waiting for him
It seems like they're on the second floor! There's space for an attic above them, and it does seem like there's a room on the first floor that has a light on, and it's a room that has quite large windows.]
[ no, he means not finding partners for the socks!!!!! gross!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway, with a cursory look around, he'll come back in from looking outside and wipe himself off in the bathroom, before coming back in and making sure Flat's good before moving on... ]

Once he's done that, though, he'll go through the rest of the drawers, just to make sure there's nothing else hidden in there. ]

Anything else he wants to look at in the bedroom?]
