[ There is a moment in your morning during which you feel just slightly dizzy - maybe you close your eyes to will the feeling to go away, maybe you carry on and feel your vision blur... However stubborn you are being about walking this off, the next time your eyes go into focus you find yourself in front of a pair of glass sliding doors.
It is decorated with stickers spouting inspiring slogans such as GREAT SALE, KALE 50% OFF or OPEN 8am TO 9pm! or even PLEASE MAKE SURE TO RETURN CARTS AFTER USE.
Yes, indeed. You have arrived at Estelline's biggest supermarket.
And it's as though a force compels you to move inside. It only lets go of you once the sliding doors do their sliding thing and shut close. And you, Fai and Shizuku? You are staring down a fresh produce aisle that has... decidedly seen better days. Stuff is looking pretty wilted here, if not downright bad.
Maybe the rest of the place will be better? Only one way to find out! Where to? ]
( shizuku looks around slowly, equal parts curious and unsettled- compulsion and nonconsensual teleportation are really annoying, huh? and the produce just smellsbad. but if the mall taught her anything... )
A quick look couldn't hurt too much. We might find something unusual! And if not, we don't have to come back, at least.
... I guess it's our turn for a little field trip, hm?
[ He's honestly glad that Shizuku is with him, since that means he'll be able to protect her if anything were to happen. Although, he doesn't think much could happen inside of a grocery store. But you never know.
She's right, though, they could find something strange in the produce section. It's worth looking wherever they can in this store, just in case. ]
Let's see what's around this section, then. I'll follow your lead.
[ He'll let Shizuku go wherever she wants in the produce section, following closely behind her and looking at whatever they pass by. ]
( oh- her lead...? well alright. theres three things shizuku is keeping an eye out for as she searches the section: signs of life, like bags or flyers, anything that could be hidden, and anything she just won't recognize. )
A grocery store... it seems rather normal compared to what we heard from the others, isn't it? Not that I'm complaining, of course...
[ The produce aisle is... gross. There is certainly signs of life and that life is flies, swarming all around the vegetables that have been left sitting for far too long.
It's otherwise looking pretty normal so far. The store radio is playing some non-distinct pop-song in the background, unbothered by the total absence of people in the store.
Once they progress past the produce, things look a little better. The baked goods are maybe a little stale and some of the bread's gone bad, but most of the foodstuff here looks passable and more varied than anything you'd have been able to get in Estelline so far.
Is there any aisle you are particularly interested in? ]
[ Fai holds his nose wherever he needs to, even swatting away at some of the flies. At least the baked goods are fine for the most part... ]
Hmmm... I think anything that wasn't prepackaged is probably going to be bad.
[ He hums thoughtfully. ]
Shall we go check out the snack aisle, Shizuku? There might be food that's still good. [ ... ] I'd like to see what they have in terms of paper products and other supplies after that.
[ But if she wants to look somewhere else first, he'll let her do so. ]
[ There are cards as well as baskets near the entrance, so they are free to grab one! Or two! Cart-race each other through the aisles if desired, there is nobody here to stop you!
The supermarket is pretty standard. The aisles are distributed as they might be anywhere in the world. There is a good variety of brand products and everything is well-stocked.
It's just the arrangement of goods that is... a little peculiar? They will pass by interesting attractions such as the Tea Pyramid - someone has taken all of the tea boxes out of the shelves and put them up in some massive superstructure. The actual shelves remain empty.
Other attractions include 'the Butterbot' (a small robot stature literally made of butter, stored in the refrigerated shelves) or the Beverage Aisle Flower Garden in which the small potted plants that you sometimes find in the front of the store have been put into a color-coded rainbow arrangement with the juice bottles...?
But aside from stuff like this, it's a normal supermarket. They can fill their cart as much as they want! As far as paper supplies go, there is a ton of gift cards for every occasion you could possibly imagine, some basic pens, glue, scissors, a paintbox and glittery stickers. ]
Let’s go find it and see what’s going on back there.
[ He starts to head back to the far end of the store… he thinks he saw some doors back there earlier. As they make their way back, Fai gives the area another look around. If there’s nothing off, he’s making a beeline towards those doors. ]
[ The lights are out in the storage room, but the light shining in from the supermarket proper illuminates it enough that Fai can tell someone has built a pretty intricate blanket fort here. It uses a variety of items you'd find in a supermarket as building parts and is entirely made of Snuggly(TM) Blanket Hoodies.
The voice is male and... just kind of rambly. Soon enough it is joined by a face, as a young man emerges from his blanket castle. ]
Like... a month? More? Dude, how did you guys even get in here? Nobody's come by at all since it got foggy!
I don't know. We were... the last thing I remember before finding myself here was that I felt dizzy. This seems to happen to people in our group at times, but I couldn't possibly begin to explain what's happening or why.
( shizuku's kind of keeping her distance still, but peeking over fai's shoulder a little to be honest. )

But those hopes are dashed the moment they both walk inside and he stares down the produce aisle. ]
Ah... what a shame. It seems like we won't be getting fresh produce anytime soon.
[ He looks toward Shizuku. ]
Shall we skip this section, or would you like to see if we can find anything here anyway?

( idly scratching her cheek, she offers an apologetic smile. )
By all means, let's go. Sorry that turned out to not be a good idea.
( do they have a cart? )

He sure does take some tea and flowers, though. Hopefully the tea is better here than at campus. And that Butterbot? Three are going into his cart.
Anything else that looks good is also going right in his cart, including cards and pens. Eventually, he looks over at Shizuku. ]
They have back rooms at places like this, correct?

what's up with this flower garden beverage aisle? are the pots connected to anything... or is it just to look weird but pretty? )
Mmhm. There should be large doors that push easily, so the staff can bring out lots of stock at once.

And there is indeed a storage room door at the far end of the store. Wanna open it up? ]

[ The voice protests from off-screen. Some shuffling can be heard. ]
... then again, I'm not really an employee either, but I think I qualify for some kind of honorary clerk title by now...
[ Half-volume muttering and grumbling as whoever is here rustles with some blankets. At least no more beans are incoming. ]
