week 4

Hey guys, we've got an exciting week coming up for you! This week will be a mix of dreamscapes and memshares.

We're gonna start off with the first part of the week (Sunday - Thursday afternoon). If any of you are familiar with games like Recolle where pieces of characters' homes will appear in Estelline, it's basically like that! In addition, we'll also allow elements of characters' dreams affect the setting. Both canon and non-canon things can exist. For the latter, as an example: If Herlock dreams about there being a viola that's made for him, there will be a viola that he can actually play. If Xingqiu dreams about a hydro slime that can fly, there might be a hydro slime that can fly roaming about. If Shizuku has a fancy garden she wants to chill in, she can have a little fancy garden somewhere in the courtyard. Not everything in your characters' dreams will appear, but you can pick and choose what will! Things will shift in and out because this is dreamshare. Now you get to put all your fancy weapons to good use.

There is a chance that these changes will become permanent, so keep that in mind!

For now, though, here are guidelines and more information on what's allowed.

✓ Individual structures, 2 max at a time
✓ Creatures/robots, including pets, 2 species max per person at a time. These will be up to 8 feet max; anything larger will be shrunk down. You can have, say, a swarm of Squirtles, though, if you wanted to. Squirtle Squirtle. (Only if they'd dream of it, though.)
✓ Items like phones, music players, wallets, etc. These things will not be permanent.
✓ Cars, bikes, scooters, sail boats, etc.
✓ Small outdoor areas (i.e. a garden, a tennis court in the park)
✖ Large methods of transportation (i.e. planes, helicopters, cruise ships)
✖ Entire buildings (unless the shop is just its own individual building)
✖ Items in the regain gacha
✖ People/characters from your canons, even if they're not human. For non-human characters, if they have some kind of connection to the cast of your canon (i.e. Mokona), they aren't allowed.

Now, for the second half (Thursday evening - Saturday), in place of a Saturday event, we are having the real memshare portion of the event. There will be opportunities to go into each other's memories, but instead of these memories only being viewable, you can actually interact with them and make decisions that will change the outcome of the memory. This will be very similar to the W1 CYOA situation and Sage -- post-memshare, characters will be able to recall different versions of the same event.

If you'd like a reprieve from pain sharing, these memories do not have to be bad. But we will leave that up to player discretion. You can absolutely go hard if you'd like to.

In these memories, you will be interacting with characters as they were in that point in time. For instance: If Owen went into one of Riku's memories involving Riku as a kid, he'd be able to talk to kid Riku. Older Riku will not be present in the memory itself. Any confrontations regarding memories will occur after Owen emerges from Riku's memory.

--

There will be a handful of locations for you to explore (not too many, so as to not take away from the whole experience), though once again, something came up IRL (for Lav this time) so we may need to put a cap on setting investigations.

Furthermore, we are pleased to say that threads for this entire week, including ones on Saturday, will count towards AC! This is because we won't be having a Saturday event like usual, so you may use all threads from this week (barring NPC threads/investigation threads/mod tags) for AC and AC rewards.

If you guys wanna use this as a plotting post of sorts, feel free to do so! We just wanted to give you a head's up since memshares and dreamscapes do take some time to think about, write up, and plot for.

POSSIBLE LOCATIONS:
💧 Umebachidou is the strange little bookstore where Tamamori lives: it's a two-story, stand-alone iron building that looks more like a fortified storehouse or treasury than a bookstore. There are reasons for that! You can invade his messy-ass room (goldfish... included...?!) or take a look at all the Japanese and translated literature from the Meiji/Taisho eras (available up to 1922, except all of Yumeno Kyusaku's works are available earlier than real life, for Reasons). Let me know if your character wants to go snooping more closely, it'll be fun. ☆

💧 The Kikai Bathhouse is a traditional Japanese bathhouse renowned for its painted view of Mount Fuji while you soak. If your character is really feeling like a good long hot bath while staring dreamily at the mountains, this is the place for them! And whoever else wants to wander in here and bathe together. It's a communal bathhouse, folks.

💧 The Touyou Cinema, which is a very small one-room old-timey movie theater -- it's so old it usually still has benshis accompanying its movies. The inside is pretty nice and good for leisure, though! There's just the one theater with a small screen, and all that ever plays here is Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde for some reason. Forever. There are no other movies at this theater.

💧 The very fashionable and very colorful Café Éclair, where one may partake in excellent cups of coffee, tea, Calspi, or other beverages while listening to authentic gramophone sounds of French jazz and sinking into both the plush booths and the sophisticated atmosphere. There's a food menu, too; it includes light Japanese dishes as well as more Western-influenced fare such as omurice. It's all from around 1922, of course.

💧 Please note that due to the nature of the dreamscape, other characters will now be able to see Tamamori's personal hallucinations, which are a pretty regular thing for him, though he doesn't generally mention them to people he doesn't know well (for obvious reasons). They can consist of anything (buildings, furniture, clothing, etc.) from the world changing colors and gaining strange things like fish swimming through the air or beautiful clouds (yeah, the things in the screenshot aren't a stylistic choice, they're actually happening), to the entire landscape itself changing in fantastical and bizarre ways. A whole forest could pop up in the background, you could suddenly appear to be underwater, or fireworks could start happening. These are generally very temporary and will come up only in Tamamori's vicinity; they're largely based on Japanese or older Western literature, but they can also be based off of his own writing, so feel free to pull concepts and possibilities from the short stories he delivered in Week 3 if you'd like. Yes, this includes suddenly being in unusual or fantasy outfits if that's your jam (as mentioned briefly before lol). If you'd rather not play with something involving hallucinations and sensory alteration, feel free to ignore this part! Just let me know as well so I know not to bring it up in threads.

💧 There will almost always be a light to heavy rain happening outside and around Tamamori’s areas.

PETS/ITEMS/MISC:
💧 It's time to meet a very special boi-- it's Frog Man!!! He's a character from Tamamori's story, Haruhiko-san and Frog Man (Sabo may recognize him, actually), and is a hallucination who accompanies Tamamori around -- oddly, he seems to have his own consciousness and opinions, and calls himself a young frog who loves to read. He can grow as big as a house (though he'll be constrained by the size limitations) or small enough to fit on your shoulder, and he's very curious about and enjoys interacting with the world. He generally sticks with Tamamori. May be seen in one of Florence's beanies. CV: Omikuji.

💧 There's a cute blobby-eyed goldfish swimming a leisurely little swim in the goldfish bowl up in his Umebachidou room.

💧 There's a streetcar that runs through occasionally. A veritable antique!

💧 There's a number of foot bridges (modified for cars, but still pretty small) that may appear occasionally -- the most frequent one being Suidoubashi. Don't drop anything into the river below, who knows whether you'll be able to get it back. Definitely don't drop yourself in--

💧 A number of beautiful oil-paper umbrellas in various colors. These should keep you dry in the rain that comes with them.

💧 Calspi, Calspi EVERYWHERE. It's the Hashihime knock-off version of Calpis/Calpico/what-have-you, though to Tamamori, the real-world version is the knock-off..... it's also got the old packaging, which is white dots on a dark blue background resembling the Milky Way. See those polka-dot wallpaper things in his room? He puts Calspi packaging up on the wall. True interior designer, this one.
