BASICS

This is an official interest check for an invite-only, short-term game called Affliction! Affliction is a character-oriented, CR-building game with its basic premise taking inspiration from Kiznaiver. For those who are familiar, you guessed it: Pain sharing time. Characters will be paired up and share their pain with one another, both of the physical and emotional variety. They will be given weekly missions that will challenge the cast in different ways and test their fortitude, in order to bring life to a rather dull city.

Your mods for this game will be Coco amplitude / onikabuto and Lavender revelries!

(Have either of us actually seen Kiznaiver? Nope, but the basic foundations are interesting and we thought they might make for a fun short-term game.)

Affliction will operate on a weekly schedule and run for around 8 weeks max, so yes, you can expect that this will be a fast-paced game. Characters will be given weekly missions that will challenge the cast in different ways. We will post weekly logs that will cover Sundays to Fridays; these logs are for mingling and lighter tasks. Saturdays will feature the main missions.

There will be a maximum of 24 28 characters (14 pairings), 1 character per person, not including mod characters. Activity will be 10 comments a week across 2 threads with a minimum of 5 comments per thread, and there will be opportunities to turn in bonus AC for rewards! Eligible threads for AC must be from the weekly logs and not the event logs that go up on Saturdays.

INVITES

This game is limited to people on Coco and Lav's Plurk timelines, +1s of interested players, and anyone who received a direct invite (for those who don't use Plurk).

Regarding the +1 system: Since this is a game that pairs characters together, as long as at least one person in your pairing is on one of our timelines/received a direct invite, you're golden!

PAIRING UP

We are allowing players to choose who they will be paired with OOCly. We encourage everyone to plan ahead and find someone they'd like to be in a pair with. Because of this, only one reserve for both people is required.

For example, Lav and I (Coco) play characters named Mitsuki and Riku respectively. We want to app them in as a pair, so Lav decides to be the one to place a reserve for the both of us. Lav gets our reserve in on time, guaranteeing us a slot in the game.

We have a section on our interest check form below where you can indicate if you already have a partner in mind! If you don't have anyone or are flexible to being partnered with someone in search of one, feel free to use this interest check as a way to find a partner!

SCHEDULE

– Reserves will open on Saturday, May 14th at 2pm EST. They will close on Sunday, May 15th at 2pm EST or whenever we hit our 24 player (12 pairs) cap – whichever one comes first.

– Applications will open on Sunday, May 15th at 2pm EST and will close on Friday, May 20th at 6pm EST.

– The game will begin on Sunday, May 22nd at 2pm EST.

Cater Diamond, Jade Leech, Leona Kingscholar | Twisted Wonderland So we've got a stepford smiler, a feral merman (don't let his façade fool you), and a depressed former gifted kid, what could possibly go wrong here?? Cater would bring the unexpected emotional pain, Jade would be the first one to start experimenting to see the limits of this link business (while being 1000% annoyed that he isn't paired with his twin, excuse you, multiverse, rude???), and Leona would. Uh. Probably nap through most of the chaos. Probably also try to get his partner to nap through the chaos, too, so he wouldn't be inconvenienced by being hurt.

Hisomu Yoshiharu | Kiznaiver So full disclosure, this consideration is absolutely the "hey I have a muse this thing was based on!!!" consideration. The upside is that he'd be post-canon, so he's been through all this painshare nonsense before! Yay! The (massive) downside is that he's hyper-masochistic, so whoever he's paired with would probably not have a fun time trying to wrangle him, unless they're similarly inclined. Whoops.

Eve | NieR: Automata Another twin, and another character who is used to spooky links with someone else, wow, amazing. He'd also not be pleased that his link isn't his brother, and he'd rocket the pair into highkey emotional distress immediately because of it... Lucky for the setting the power nerfs mean he can't destroy the electronics around. If given good reason to chill out, though, he'd be very overprotective of whoever he did end up paired with! A cute bean at his core, honestly.

The Protagonist [Akira Kurusu] | Persona 5 Everyone needs a wildly extra, empathetic mom friend, right? Right. Simultaneously the most emotionally stable and most likely to get up to Shenanigans(tm) of anyone on my list of considerations. I'd probably pull him from the Vanilla game, because I've played it... Many Times, and I've only played Royal once!

Various OCs | Tabletop [Vampire: the Masquerade] This game has been consuming my life and I have way, way too many characters for it... So like. I could be enabled into throwing a Vampire into this game for fun and chaos. It could happen.
