In the movies, the betrayer always waits until the climax to actually turn and betray.

[He's only seen (half of) one movie before, and he didn't see the appeal, so he has no idea what Flat's talking about.]

Up to you chumps... but I bet they wouldn't see betrayal coming in the first round.

Well, half of our team isn't human so I think you'll have to forgive us for not being clued in on human society.

Honestly, I don't know that any of the other teams will take you at face value. But being upfront might be interesting...

[It certainly might be disarming.]

[ flat shakes his head, looking at her with an expression that could almost be described as pitiful. ]

Mister Sholmes will be okay. He's a strong man. And Chongyun will survive, too. Miss Lorelei wouldn't want us dead, so that's definitely not going to happen.

And then nobody would trust us for any subsequent rounds - in the worst case, consistently locking us in place as we are betrayed over and over.

There are a lot of 'fates worse than death' - but they will presumably not be brought upon us in round one of this exercise.

Any society should be built on honest communication, not just human society. Though, to be quite honest, humans themselves are rather poor at it!

Well, that's no good. I really don't have any reason to betray them right now. If they want to betray us, then I'd accept that, too.

I doubt Shin would betray us - and for what it's worth, he has physical strength to hold others back from choosing betray without his consent.

Oh, absolutely. Imagine being an immortal man that's put inside a barrel and thrown into the Hudson River. [ he nods. ] That's worse than death for sure.

A punishment arguably worse even than Prometheus and the eagle - after all Prometheus still has company, even if it is chewing at his liver.

It happens when people put their own interests first - or let their decisions be clouded by their prejudice, their fears... Hearts are a tricky thing and people let them get in the way of their thinking, which then makes things not go as smoothly as they should.

I'm not sure I'd accept a betrayal so easily, but I don't really care about the outcome of this. We'll get out of here, or we won't.
